Hot and windy, hot and windy, is starting to get old. Today’s ride was a low mileage day but again the heat and wind made it a true challenge. A few people didn’t make the entire ride. I‘m sitting in a diner in Henry, IL, and the heat index is 105. There are a number of farmers in the diner and they all seem to agree that it’s too hot to be in the fields even in air conditioned tractors.

My favorite turn, the right turn away from the wind.

My ride was difficult but very doable. A peaceful night’s sleep in my tent was all I needed. I drank a lot of water and used the techniques I described in my last blog to beat the heat. I wish the ride was more exciting but as I said, ”Same old, same old.”
