Re-Maine Strong

I‘m finally feeling strong and my legs have regained their climbing strength. The cold is just about gone and I’m excited again about going on. At one point last week during the peak of my illness I had a thought of ending my ride at Bar Harbor. I was definitely depressed and missed Cindy and home. I longed to be back in my own bed and not sleeping on the floor of a random church in some tiny town. I have experienced this feeling before on other rides and knew this feeling would pass. It has helped knowing I’ll see Cindy in a few days. The hard part will be turning west to Fargo and saying good by to my lovely wife again.

Butch, one of our new route leaders
Today I rode with one of our new route leaders, Butch. Butch is from the Greensburg Area, PA. He seems very capable of leading a group of riders to Seattle.

Riding the coast of Mains has been very scenic and I’ve enjoyed riding through the quaint little villages. The weather has been ideal and the roads are adequate. However, at times I feel like I’m in Pittsburgh with all of the potholes.

Tonight we’re staying in South Portland in a church and as usual I’m laying on the floor missing Cindy and my comfortable bed. On July 6 when I arrive home I plan on staying in my bed for an entire day.
