Early morning across the Susquehanna

I’m sick! After hanging in there for weeks the Bike Plague has finally grabbed me. I’m one of the last to get sick. This cold is a vicious one. It lasts for days on end. I’ve only begun but I know what to expect from watching the others deal with this malady. It’s not Covid but this cold can really slow you down. Oh well, I’ll be riding tomorrow but I’m sure it won’t be enjoyable but I’ll give it my best shot.

The fun of riding through a covered bridge

Yesterday we left York in a slight drizzle. The roads were busy but there was a good shoulder. At mile 20 we enter Amish Country. The rain had stopped and the roads were lightly traveled and the massive farms were impressive. The Amish were very friendly and all waved as we road by. It was a long day at 84 miles and the off and on sprinkles made the ride a little annoying. We rode through Valley Forge and at the Schuylkill River we met my friend Dave Baker. He led us into Conshohoken and the firehouse where we’ll be staying at for the next two nights.

Home Sweet Home

After that long tough day, Dave took Dick, Jacob and myself out to dinner. It was awesome. Many thanks to Dave for his kindness. On the way home I felt myself coming down with something and by morning I was at the beginning of the Bike Plague. I’m a little disappointed that I’m not 100% to meet my daughters who are coming to visit today and the arrival of my good friend Dave Suriani. Dave will be joining the team as we continue to Bar Harbor.
