Our 60 mile day couldn’t have been more pleasant. I didn’t have a great night’s sleep because of my coughing that probably disturbed my fellow riders but they wouldn’t complain since most of them have gone through the same thing. Even with the lack of sleep the day was easy. The morning was a little brisk but perfect for riding. Most of the ride was downhill to the Atlantic Ocean. We’re finally on the Atlantic Coast. It has been worth the wait. The shoreline in North New Hampshire and South Maine is rugged but beautiful. The houses along the coast were spectacular and the rocky beaches were teaming with sunbathers and a few brave swimmers.

The ride through Portsmouth to the bridge that crossed into Maine was easy. Being a Sunday with ideal weather the entire area was alive with people getting a jump on Summer.

Tonight we’re staying in a Methodist Church that seems to need some repairs. The toilets can’t be used and there’s no hot water so it was another cold shower today. The kitchen is inoperable but as I lay here and hear a storm approaching I’m happy to have a roof over my head.
