My First Accident

The front of hostel in Buffalo
Well it finally happened, I was involved in a bike pile up today. I was riding with a group of younger riders on the back roads along Lake Erie. Luke was in the lead followed by Jade and Mason. I was the tail gunner calling out directions. As we rode past our first vineyard Jade caught the edge of the road’s shoulder and went down immediately and Mason being behind her hit her and flew off of his bike to the right. I tried to brake but hit Jade broadside as she lay on the road. I went over the handle bars and landed next to Jade. Miraculously I must have tucked and rolled and didn’t receive a scratch but Jade broke her pinky finger, received road rash and sore ribs where my front tire hit her. Mason had a deep gash on his ankle. After assessing and patching up the injuries we deemed ourselves fit to complete the remaining 30 miles. Jade is one tough young lady.
I didn’t take many pictures today for one reason or another. Maybe after our accident I just wanted to get to Erie State Park where we’re camping tonight. Tomorrow we have a 97 mile day to Geneva, Ohio where Danny and Sherie Wolovich and their friends are providing dinner. I can’t wait to see them. I’m so very grateful for their continued support and incredible generosity.
