There are jokes about golfing in Heaven but I do believe that if there is cycling in Heaven it would be like what I experienced today. The weather was ideal with a moderate breeze propelling me down a beautiful smoothly paved trail. The trail passed between lovely autumn rural scenery and I was totally alone. I had music playing on a small blue tooth speaker that is attached to my bike. The ride to Alexandria couldn’t have been better.

Once in Alexandria I took a picture of the giant Viking statue at the town’s welcoming center next to the Runestone Museum. The Finns in the area claim they have a rune stone proving that they were living in North America since the 1300 hundreds. The rune stone was in the museum but I didn’t feel like paying to see it and why upset my Italian friends who believe Christopher Columbus discovered America.

Instead, I decided to discover the beer in Alexandria and found the Copper Trail Brewery just across the street from the Runestone Museum. There I waited for Cindy while discussing Vikings in America with Warren and his Finnish wife Ann. They told me the whole idea of the Vikings discovering America was a very contentious topic among the people who live in Alexandria and that family disputes over the idea had divided families so I kept my opinion on the subject to myself.

Cindy arrived and took me to the hotel and later that evening we went to Angie’s home to meet her new family and have a wonderful dinner. I road the Pacific Coast with Angie in 2019 and she came to Pittsburgh to compete in the Dirty Dozen. It was great to see her and her family.

Tomorrow I make my way to Fergus Fall, MN. I believe that most of my day will be on a trail.
