Have Mercy

I’ve never, on all of the Bike the US for MS rides, have had such a difficult start. The first three days have included long mileage, endless hills and hot weather and today we begin our climb over the White Mountains. The new riders are suffering as I would have been if I hadn’t already ridden the Atlantic Coast first. I feel like we’ve been in Maine forever, however today we enter New Hampshire.

Maine is a beautiful state with most of the beauty around the coast line. The interior just looks a lot like home. I believe I mentioned this in an earlier post. Many times I think I’m riding through the Laurel Highlands. The roads are decent and we spend most of our time riding remote byways. I haven’t seen a moose yet but there’s still northern New Hampshire to go.

Tonight we’re staying at a family campground outside of Naples Maine. It’s almost 7:30 and some riders are still on the road. The woods are full of life and I almost feel like I’m sleeping in the monkey cages at the zoo. I hope I can get a good nights sleep before tackling the White Mountains.
