Today’s Tire Dip
As I posted last night, I finished the Atlantic Coast and I had a lovely time in Bar Harbor with Cindy. I was truly exhausted from the 60 mile ride in from Belfast, Maine. Usually the last day of a ride isn’t so taxing but this killer ending was par for this trip. There was 3,500 feet of climbing and a stiff wind in our faces. I was never so happy to end a ride as I was this one. I can’t say I love Maine. Don’t get me wrong, it’s beautiful along the shore line and the small fishing villages are quaint. Bar Harbor is a great town with great restaurants and bars. The little inns are magical and quite comfortable. Cindy and I had a wonderful and for me. a rejuvenating time.

Today after most of the Atlantic Coast Team departed, I joined a new group of cyclist and we are now heading west. Cindy accompanied me to the water’s edge for the ceremonial tire dipping and off we went. I’m actually repeating the same 60 miles I rode the other day, only this time I’m headed south back to Belfast and the same campground I stayed in last Wednesday night. The only difference tonight is that it’s pouring and I‘m sitting in a restaurant waiting for a break in the rain so I can crawl into my tent and enjoy a soggy night in a small city park. What have I gotten myself into?
