Airing My Dirty Laundry

Today again proves that what is supposed to be an easy day can be so, so hard. Usually a 67 mile day of flat roads would be a breeze but if that breeze is directly in your face at a steady 20 mph then it becomes a real struggle to pedal.
I rode with a group of four and we worked hard and took turns riding in the lead to cut the wind (pace lining). This helped but it still tires you out.

Staples
I do believe I’m running out of steam. I lost 25 lbs. and much of it was muscle. My diet is not the best because you believe you can eat anything at anytime when you’re shedding weight. I’ve had more Big Macs, fries and ice cream in the last few weeks than I’ve had over a five year period. Donuts, coffee cake and pie for breakfast are common. Wings and beer are a nightly staple. Extra sweet tea is my go to drink while riding along with potato chips and BelVita Biscuits at the rest stops. I must eat 2 to 3 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches a day. Things will have to change once I get home. Hopefully I’ll go back to a much healthier diet.

Tomorrow’s breakfast
Tomorrow is a 93 mile day directly into a 15-20 mph wind. It should be a little less hot and humid. It won’t be in the mid 90s like yesterday and today. I’ll take whatever little relief I can get. Days can be hard.
