My Aero/Tech rain jacket worked its magic today, kept me warm and dry.

I still love Virginia but the weather today put a slight strain on our relationship. When we left Richmond this morning it was 38 degrees and raining. We didn’t have the full team riding today because a number of riders have been sick with flu like symptoms. I’m happy to say that no one has tested positive for Covid so far. However, we were especially worried today but after a few people were tested in the morning at CVS all is well.

Although the weather wasn’t cooperating we still enjoyed the cold hilly ride through the rural county side. The roads were lightly traveled and the cars we encountered were patient and courteous. We only had a 66 mile day and we arrived at our destination in Fredericksburg, Va. by 2:30. We are staying with Bike the US alumni. Vikki and Bruce have done a number of MS rides and opened their amazing house up to a band of 25 gypsies. I think that’s amazing just like the meal they served us. We meet the kindest people on these bike rides.

Tomorrow we have a 90 mile day to Alexandria. I’m excited to ride on the Mt. Vernon Trail into Old Town. The weather is looking much better so it should be a long but good trek.
