Just finished my laundry in Sausalito

The church on the Mount

The hills of Sausalito from the marina  I awoke from a deep sleep at about 5:00 AM to the frantic crawling of hundreds from crows that had taken up residency in a large dead tree near our tents. We had a short mileage day planned and most of us had planned to sleep in but the crows had other ideas. I woke up tired but wasn’t worried about the ride. Today’s “easy ride” was actually easy for a change. After a climb out of Point Reyes we soon had a relatively flat ride through Fairfax and a number of up scale communities on our way to Sausalito. The toughest part of the ride was the hill in Sausalito up to the church where we’re staying. It was a 22 degree ascent that I made halfway up. I’ve never had to walk my bike up a hill on an MS ride until now. I’m ashamed to say that I couldn’t get to the top and it reaffirmed that I should not attempt The Pittsburgh Dirty Dozen (Pittsburgh’s premier hill race up the 13 steepest hills in the Burgh). Angie, who races bicycles, easily made the hill. I’m excited that she may enter The Pittsburgh Dirty Dozen. If she does she has a great chance of winning the women’s division. I’ll be there to root her on. Last night we walked around Sausalito after having a good fish dinner at West Coast Fish. After some ice cream I was in bed listening to “I Left My Heart in San Francisco.”
