Campground near Point Reyes

I’m so gullible. It took me awhile but I solved the mystery of the DC to Pittsburgh shirt. Fred Zelt sent a number of our Pacific Coast Riders shirts which was very magnanimous of him. He sent me a great new cycling jersey which I greatly appreciate. He also sent one of the riders the jersey I designed for last year’s reunion ride. So they made up the story of finding it in a California thrift store. It was worth a good laugh but I do feel really foolish for falling for such an outlandish coincidence. Today’s ride has been considered one of the toughest on the PAC. It was an 83 mile day with 6,300 ft. of climbing. I thought it was a moderately difficult day and I enjoyed the variety of terrain we rode through. We peddled along steep ocean cliffs and rolling farm lands. There were no guardrails in many places and very little shoulder. We crossed the Russian River and made our way into the very crowded Bodega Bay area. There I watched surfers as they patiently waited for that perfect wave. We rode through smaller touristy coastal hamlets and a beautiful river valley. Finally we reached Point Reyes where we had an early dinner and then proceeded to the packed campground where we’re staying tonight. Tomorrow we have a short ride into San Francisco where we will have a rest day.
