A nice welcome in Tonasket

This morning after a peaceful night’s sleep in the town of Republic, WA Fairgrounds, and a great breakfast at the Knotty Pines Restaurant, we began a 16 mile climb. After yesterday, the 2,000 ft. climb seemed easy. The nice thing was, that after reaching the top, we had a 35 mile descent. It was truly an easy day. Tonight we’re sleeping in Tonasket, WA. Our tents are pitched in the town’s Founders Park. Pictures of these grave looking people are staring down on my tent. One picture is of a sinister look character named, J. P. Douglas. I hope the ghosts of these people don’t haunt us all night long. I do believe the trucks running next to the park will definitely haunt us or keep us awake. Tomorrow we begin another steep climb. There’s nothing worse than spending the morning climbing and the afternoon descending and negating the day’s elevation gain. We’ll be repeating this process for the next two day. Up, down, up, down! Can’t wait for Seattle.
