The axe throwing event I arranged was a total success. We had 12 of us partake in a truly competitive competition. The Tavern Bar rolled out the red carpet for us because we actually paid with cash. The Tavern Bar is a throwback to the tiny mill bars that served the hard working men and women of Pittsburgh. Instead of pool tables the loggers of the area throw axes at a target. They’re hard but kind patrons. At first we weren’t very good but it didn’t take long before we were nailing the target like pros. Nick even received the “Silver Hatchet Blade” trophy. Russ the owner of the Tavern Bar, who is a champion hatched thrower in these parts, made the presentation to Nick. We’re extremely proud of our fellow biker! Sand Point is a great little town. It’s a mix of tourist and kind hearted residents. All of the shop owners and their workers seemed to go the extra mile. Some of the residents I talked to don’t lock their cars or houses.
The lake is beautiful with many boaters and the nearby ski resort makes this town a four season area. I could easily live here. Tomorrow we have only a 35 mile day on flat terrain. I always worry about these supposedly easy days. Sometimes they’re our hardest.
