Medora Cowboy Extravaganza

Beautiful road with no traffic

Pittsburgh Wigle Whiskey Day. Thanks Fred

Yellow Fields Forever
Last night’s Medora Cowboy Show was like a cowboy version of Alabama Theatre in Myrtle Beach. Hokey jokes, young college singers and dancers presenting the area’s history, (mainly Teddy Roosevelt) a salute to America and finally fireworks. However, the venue was spectacular. It was a national amphitheater built into the canyon which allowed riders on horseback to descend a hill and walk onto the stage. Overall it was a good performance. Today’s ride was spectacular. The first 20 miles were absolutely beautiful with canyon walls surrounding the long gently winding road that was totally free of all vehicles. After the first rest stop, I entered Montana (I rode solo today). There I got onto Interstate 94 and headed west with the big rigs pushing me forward with the air they moved. Today’s 65 miles were very easy. I’m sitting in a Mexican Restaurant as usual in Glendive, Montana writing this post while sipping a Big Sky IPA. Life is good. We’re staying at a community college tonight. We’re sleeping in the student activity room. It’s a tiny college but it has hot showers and the internet, Heaven! Tomorrow we probably have the toughest day of the entire trip, 102 miles to Wolf Point, an Indian Reservation. The ride will be brutal because of the heat. It’s expected to hit the mid 90s tomorrow. How will I do? Stay tuned.
