The Bad Lands

Creative Wind Mill

Prairie dogs near the park  Today we rode from Hebron to Medora, 74 miles. Medora is the gateway into Teddy Roosevelt National Park, the entrance to the Bad Lands. The topography is strikingly different than the endless prairie lands. I’m actually glad for a little change of scenery. Today’s ride was a little more difficult than I expected. The morning wind slowed us down quite a bit and the afternoon sun and heat were brutal. Approaching the Bad Lands was the most exciting part of the day. It has amazed me that standing in the middle of nowhere, there would be a large mansion. Talk about being isolated. Tonight we’re headed to a cowboy show in Madora. It’s held at a natural amphitheater in the Bad Lands. Everyone says it’s a little hokey but I’m excited to do something this evening that doesn’t involve staring up at the ceiling of my tent before the sun goes down.
