We have just completed day 6 of the ride and we are staying near Manchester in a small town. We are lucky to be staying indoors at the local Boy Scout Center.
I’ve really had trouble posting every day because of limited internet service. Last night we stayed at a campground where we were very welcomed with only one stipulation, we had to patronize the campground’s pub. What a deal. Delicious local beer and amazing food and we could camp for free using all of the camp’s amenities just for what we do every night, which is drink and eat.
The ride has become easier now that we are out of Cornwall. We passed into Wales briefly yesterday. I had a chance to see a quaint town near a castle. We also met with a number of MS patients along our route. I wish I could post every night because I have already forgotten many of the little villages’ names. There are just so many of them. They’re all very charming and it’s fun to ride through while school is being let out. Watching the boys and girls walking home in their school uniforms reminds all of us we’re definitely not in the US.
Today we had our first real crash. Andy, Mac’s son, ran into Adam as Adam was making an abrupt turn. Andy’s bike was damaged and Andy sustained some cuts and bruises. Lucky he wrecked near a bike shop and had the repairs done quickly and he bravely continued the ride.
Today we will hit the halfway point, 500 miles. We’ll have our one and only rest day and I hope to get some laundry done and write a more detailed post. We’ll be helping at a local MS Event tomorrow. It makes riding easier when you hear about the struggles MS sufferers go through each day.
