Today we had a day off on the outskirts of Baton Rouge. The day started off with Bob discovering that his very expensive bike was stolen. We were told by the police that we are staying in a high crime area. Bob filed a report with the police and then he arranged to pick up a new bike at a local bike store. We all knew that he'd never see his old bike again. A few of us went to the Louisiana State Capital Building. It's the tallest state capital building in the US and was erected during Huey Long's administration. We were amazed at how deserted the city was. It seemed as though we were the only survivors of some apocalyptical event.

We were happy to return to our crime ridden area where we went shopping at our favorite store, Family Dollar. You can never have enough Fig Newtons. After working on our bikes we went to a Mexican Restaurant across the street from the Baptist Church where we're staying. For some reason we can't seem to wean ourselves off of the food from south of the border. Tomorrow we head to Jackson, LA.
