Days 29 & 30 -Rejuvenation and the Best Little Whore House in Texas

(Pumping up for our 76 mile day)

I'm sure my title today has caught your attention but don't jump to conclusions. I was rejuvenated by a day off in Austin with Cindy. We had lunch with a friend and dinners with the other cyclist. We sipped adult beverages while lounging around the hotel pool and we had well deserved naps. This was just what the doctor ordered.

The next day we rode to La Grange, Texas where the infamous Chicken Ranch was once in business (aka The Best Little Whore House in Texas). Today there is a display in the local museum of this house of ill repute.

Today's ride was an easy 76 miles. The first 20 miles were relatively flat with only a few ups and down. We made great time on the better road surface. The roads are improving as we continue eastward. The second 30 miles were a little more difficult as we traveled through a large state park. A road was washed out by earlier heavy rains so there was very little traffic. A few short steep knolls had us standing on our pedals to ascend.

The last 20 miles were a breeze because of the breeze. We had a nice tailwind that blew us into town. We all gathered at the local DQ and carbo loaded with tons of ice cream. We love our ice cream. Once at the Church of Christ on the outskirts of town we were delighted to find that it would be a hose shower evening. The best thing about showing under a hose is that nobody really stays under it to long and there's no singing, however there may be an occasion scream.

Cindy traveled to La Grange to visit with us one last time before heading back to Austin and then to Las Vegas where she'll be heading up PPG's presentation at a trade show. Cindy arrived with her good friend Cheryl. Cheryl lives close to La Grange and she baked the cyclist delicious cookies. They won't last long.
