(Dr. Nick aka The White Rabbit heads out for the day)

I don't know why Sundays are my hardest days. Maybe it's because I usually sit around with Cindy drinking coffee and reading the Sunday paper. It's truly a relaxing day at home. My body has struggled to get out of this mode during this long ride. My Sunday mornings on the ride are usually slow and sluggish. My legs beg for my easy chair. By the afternoon they want the couch. However, I've been able to coax them along. I'm also not alone with this Sunday Leg Revolt. Other riders have experienced the days when their legs want a day off. Unfortunately, other than the five rest days spread out over the 3,070 mile route, there are no other days to rest our exhausted legs.

Today our ride out of La Grange was a little dangerous. It was the last day for a very large antiques fair, one of the largest in Texas. The traffic for the first 26 miles was heavy and the road didn't have much of a shoulder. Many of the vehicles pulled trailers with their treasures. However, the drivers were courteous and we had no mishaps.

(James liked this antique shop.)

The second 20 miles took us on a less traveled road that rolled through cattle country. The ranches along the way were well maintained with large steers grazing in the meadows.

We only had two rest stops and the second one really saved me. It was at Independence, TX. The van parked across the street from a general store that sold all kinds of sh_t.

I had a great turkey sandwich and two sweet teas while watching the Steelers lose to the Jaguars in this unique place.

It was a very friendly store and a lifesaver for me.

After a selfie with my new friend Billy who helped with the garbage disposal I was re-energized and was able to complete the 64 mile ride to Navasota, TX where we're staying at a comfortable church. After a wild night at Popeye's Chicken, I'm ready for bed. It's 8:00 PM. It's life in the fast lane here in Texas. Tomorrow I hope to stay up until 8:30.

Goodnight

Note: I've not had service for the last few days. I will hopefully be able to post Monday and today's blog this evening.
